The Ebenezer Crossing Property is a 276 acre tract of land at the base of Ebenezer Creek, next to the Savannah River. It has one mile of water frontage on both Ebenezer Creek and the Savanah River. Donated to the City of Springfield to assist with their conservation efforts along the Springfield Ebenezer Greenway, the property is mostly low lying swamp lands, but has much historical and cultural significance. The original crossing of Old Augusta Road is located on this property. There are also Civil War and Revolutionary War artifacts and battlements on the site. The Uchi Indians were native to this part of the creek swamp and much evidence of their existence can be found as well. The City of Springfield plans to develop a use for the property that will allow for public access, educational excursions and conservation of the property.
